Fast Facts

2 of this sectional’s teams made it to Day 2 of state last year.

Just 1 of these teams earned a 1st place trophy at a competition this season.

Many teams in this field faced each other at last year’s Glenbrook South sectional.

Here are performances that scored at least an 85.00 during the season:

This set of data is definitely incomplete, so it’s hard to be confident in too many conclusions. These 19 routines, all of which scored an 85 or above, have an average of 87.56, and lean heavily in the mid-80s. Just 2 broke the 90 mark, but Glenbard North’s performance at Huntley (not in this table) was likely at a least a 90.

Half of this sectional’s teams appear in this table of “>85” performances, a pretty good indicator that the lower scores and lower average might be misleading. That means that if 85 was the magical cut-off score in another rules system, at least 2 very worthy teams wouldn’t make it downstate.

If you’re looking for drama, then this sectional group should keep you on the edge of your seat. When looking at these 19 performances, 10 are crammed in between the scores of 85.04 and 86.97. In other words, a big chunk of the field is pretty evenly-matched.

One way to loosely guestimate the top 6 is to go down the list and pick out the first instance a team appears. That would mean that the first team out (7th place) had a high score this season of 87.17! We can continue this stroll down “unscientific statistical lane” by wondering where all those teams stuck between 85.04 and 86.97 might fit into the mix. All of these question marks don’t even begin to consider how the other 8 teams in this sectional field might figure in the battle to get into the top 6.

Glenbard North continues its tradition of innovative, entertaining, and highly skilled pom routines. But after that, every other position is basically a toss-up.
