Slideshow 12 extra notes
slide 1: Start The Beat competition
IDTA hosts a solos/small groups competition to kick off the comp season in October. One of the dancers this past fall at the Jacksonville event is this soloist, listed as Haley Greibart performing in the single-A jazz solo category.
slide 2: Washington
Even if you take the cool costume lights factor out of it, this dance was poignant and authentic. The Washington Pantherettes performed this routine for the IHSA category at Edwardsville’s IDTA/IHSA comp in early January.
slide 3: Willowbrook
If your team has an unofficial stuffed mascot, she/he/it deserves its moment with the trophy! This moment is from the 12/1 Batavia competition.
slide 4: Stagg
The talented Chargerettes are shown here dancing on Day 1 of IHSA state.
slide 5: Nazareth
Across Illinois, teams turn their cafeterias into dance rooms every day after school. Here’s the Nazareth team working on their routine just before their first weekend of competition in November.
slide 6: Dunlap
This gem of a team caught my attention this season. After dancing at IHSA state in 2A, the Dunlap dancers took their talents to the IDTA state floor a couple weekends later.
slide 7: Prospect Orchesis
Their showcase was called “Serenity,” and I caught the Valentine’s night edition of their production. A lot of Prospect dance team members cross over and spend time performing with the school’s talented orchesis group!
slide 8: Sectionals updates
As the results came in throughout the day on January 19, I kept a running tab on who was headed to state. The Normal West 1A results are taped onto the sheet because I messed up (and markers aren’t forgiving)!
slide 9: Lemont
The team sent in this shot from a very good night at their conference comp at Oak Forest. They’re shown hoisting the South Suburban Conference’s Blue Division varsity championship trophy!
slide 10: Waubonsie Valley
Classy plaques can be just as sweet as upright trophies. The WV athletic department and dance team always does a nice job displaying the up-for-grabs plaques at their December comp.
slide 11: Geneva
New conference, but familiar results. The wonderfully elite Geneva dancers celebrate a conference title on their home floor back on 1/10.
slide 12: Boylan
This Catholic school from Rockford has fielded some solid dance teams over the past few years. They again looked good at the Rolling Meadows competition on January 12th.
