Lake Park 3A-1 Sectional Preview

The host school leads the 3A field’s season accomplishments at the Lake Park (3A-1) Sectional.

Fast Facts

Last year’s 3A champions start their quest for a repeat on their home floor.

5 of the 16 teams have competed two different routines during the season.

When these teams have scored over an 85, they’ve taken 1st place only twice…but never worse than 9th.

Here are performances that scored at least an 85.00 during the season:

This sectional has the Lake Park Lancettes’ fingerprints all over it. Besides hosting the sectional, they’re credited with 50% of the sectional field’s routines that scored over an 85.00 during the season.

As jaw-dropping as that is, the 2014 3A champs will take up just 1 spot in the qualifier list.

Perennial high-performers Fremd have two routines on this “over 85” list, both of which are among the highest-scoring non-jazz/lyrical routines in Chicagoland 3A.

Glenbrook South also ups the variety with both a pom and lyrical in their dance toolbox, each of which cracked the 85 mark as recently as last weekend.

One of the interesting stories is Prospect, a team that hasn’t made a huge splash in IDTA, TDI, or IHSA competition in recent memory. Their early-season 90.63 at Fremd looked just as good at the MSL conference competition only a week ago.

At least 6 teams from the sectional field have a jazz or lyrical routine, giving this group an overall different flavor when compared to other 3A groups. Almost all of the performances on this “>85” list come from teams with two different routines; also remarkable is that these teams put both of their distinct dances on this list. In other words, these teams don’t really have an “A” and “B” routine. More like an “A+” and “A-,” actually.

Half of the routines in this table earned over a 90, and among these, 3 different teams are represented. Impressed? You can confirm your amazement with this stat: these routines have a cray-cray average score of 90.35.
