Slideshow 16 extra notes
slide 1: Hillsboro (Missouri)
The Hawkettes were our first Missouri dance team ever featured on the 8CA blog last summer! This pic is from their 2018 state comp. Missouri dance teams compete in the Missouri Dance Team Association throughout the season, wrapping up in a state contest in February. Some teams also dance in UDA and NDA events.
slide 2: Bishop McNamara
Even in the middle of summer, the Bishop Mac dancers showed their usual hip hop flair at UDA camp at Eisenhower.
slide 3: West Chicago
Looking sharp in those warmups, the Wego dancers are ready for the results in a crowded Fremd gym on 11/17.
slide 4: Argo
The Sailorettes turn their cafeteria/gym into pom central every day at practice. Big visuals and a deep bag of tricks are just a couple of the many elements that fuel this team’s signature style.
slide 5: Stevenson JV
The always poised JV Patriettes are about to hit the floor in very familiar costumes (I think they were varsity’s from last season?) at Mundelein on November 18th.
slide 6: Eisenhower
8CA staffer Mia hung out with the Cardinal Dance Team at Blue Island’s 4th of July parade last summer. Yup, they’re good at hip hop on any surface! And I love seeing these dynamic athletes with poms in their hands!
slide 7: Barrington
The Broncettes quietly had a strong season, and I thought they deserved a lot more attention. The girls picked up yet another trophy on January 6th at Huntley.
slide 8: Alton
Performing in the ultra-competitive AAA Jazz category, these dancers brought their elegance to the floor at the Edwardsville IDTA/IHSA comp on January 5th.
slide 9: Somonauk
Thank you goes out to Coach Jensen for sending in this picture of her excellent 1A team!
slide 10: Joliet Catholic
I was a little late to home routines at the East Peoria UDA camp over the summer, but I was lucky enough to catch eventual 1A IHSA champs Joliet Catholic from an open side door!
slide 11: Rocori (Cold Spring, MN)
One of our non-Illinois teams that we featured last summer, the Rocori Rockettes are an elite kick and jazz team that competes pretty much every year at Minnesota’s state contest in class single-A.
slide 12: Libertyville
Clean formations are fun to watch, even from the side! This shot is from my visit with the LHS dancers last October.
