Slideshow 9 extra notes
slide 1: Lemont
Thanks goes out to the team for sending in this moment of celebration after a good day at the December 1st Eisenhower competition!
slide 2: Rochelle
Many of the northern Illinois teams who aren’t from Chicago tend to fly under the radar, like the very solid Rochelle dance program. This shot is from the 1A sectionals at Huntley.
slide 3: UDA Pheasant Run, St. Charles
Here’s a room full of elite dancers vying to be the drill down queen!
slide 4: Wheeling
One of our music clients this season, we were proud to watch the Wheeling dancers perform their pom routine at the MSL conference competition on their home floor!
slide 5: Oswego
Weeknight practices have such a different vibe than after school. We hung out with the Oswego dancers as they finished crafting their comp routines back in November.
slide 6: Maine East
This program has such a long history in Illinois dance. The dancers were busy with soapy sponges back on August 18th outside the school.
slide 7: DuQuoin
Dazzling costumes were just one aspect of a very good pom-dance routine by this southern Illinois team. They performed at both IHSA and IDTA state. I got to watch them at the Edwardsville IHSA/IDTA comp on the last weekend of winter break.
slide 8: Triad
Troy, IL is a distant suburb of the St. Louis area and the team has found state success over the years in IDTA, IHSA, and TDI. This pic is from our visit at one of their July practices.
slide 9: Hoffman Estates
This team impressed me all season! I think their upswing started a couple years ago after a long stretch of down seasons. The H.E. dancers competed at Naperville North in early December when I took this shot.
slide 10: St. Charles East
In the middle of an awesome season, both St. Charles teams performed at a charity fundraiser a little before Christmas. Here’s the East dance team slaying the toe touches on a middle school floor.
slide 11: Warren
Something about the November Fremd comp brings out great pre-awards moments. I’m guessing it’s the newness of the season and seeing a floor full of teams after a long day for the first time? This enthusiastic Devilette knows one way to get on our Instagram feed!
slide 12: Palatine
Another team that suddenly turned things around this year was Palatine. They instantly caught my attention at the Fremd comp when they matched these splits so well.
slide 13: Neuqua Valley
Now those are some quality posters! The NV dancers, parents, and coaches are always so fun to chill with. Back on 8/18, we stopped at their car wash before dropping by Maine East’s!
slide 14: Aurora Central Catholic
The ACC dancers would be the first to say that they didn’t pull off a perfect performance at conference on January 12th at Ridgewood, but they were strong enough to capture 3rd place! Things would turn around in a big way when they earned a sectional win (after a scoring error, which still isn’t reflected on the IHSA site) at Huntley a week later.
slide 15: Lake Zurich
Was it a warmup or a dance party? Either way, the LZ dancers had plenty of fun dancing to the entirety of “Downtown” by Macklemore during the 1st half of their home game on October 12th.
slide 16: South Elgin
The highly talented SEHS dancers brought their elegance to the marley on Day 1 of IHSA state. I thought the team quietly gained strength throughout the winter and it definitely showed when they got to Bloomington.
slide 17: Glenbrook South
Snazzy uniforms on their home floor, plus an ultra-fun UDA-style pom routine? That’s a magical combo. On the down side, I’m still not over how a flash drive failure ate up most of my pics and vids from that comp. On the up side, I’ll always remember how cool it was this season that Coach Smith and her dancers were always so friendly even though we haven’t actually met yet!
