Slideshow 11 extra notes

slide 1: Sycamore

Sycamore’s been a state contender for several years and they took a step forward during the ’17-’18 season. This artistic moment is from their 2A sectional this past January at Huntley.

slide 2: Grayslake Central

On the first Saturday night of winter break I dropped by GC’s home game to meet up with their vibrant dance team. A sound system hiccup made for a challenging halftime performance but these ladies handled it with poise!

slide 3: Eisenhower comp

8CA super staffer Mia captured this excellent shot of the hardware to be handed out at the end of December 1st’s Eisenhower dance comp. Like a few other comps, they offered category awards! (Before IHSA came onto the scene, all comps had categories).

slide 4: DeKalb

These DHS dancers are having a leap-tastic morning practice back in July!

slide 5: Nashville

The Stingers Dance Team came together for this shot before awards at the December 15th Belleville East IDTA/IHSA comp.

slide 6: Grant

After watching the Northern Lake County Conference competition, I stopped by Grant’s trophy case and marveled at their sportsmanship award from the Team Dance Illinois (TDI) state competition on March 6th, 2011. (More evidence that March is truly Celebration Month!)

slide 7: West Chicago

Way back on June 14th, teams danced their home routines at the UDA camp at NIU. The Wego dancers took advantage of the break between routines and awards to pose for this pic.

slide 8: Meraki Dance Co.

Several Chicago-area dance teams coaches perform with Meraki at their annual show each summer, including Plainfield South’s Coach Fisher and Assistant Coach Germann.

slide 9: Glenbard North

The GN dancers have been a steady force at the top of Illinois dance for most of the past decade. Before IHSA, this team had lots of success in the pom, hip hop, and jazz categories in TDI. The ’18-’19 edition of this varsity team are pictured after awards at the Batavia comp, 12/1/18.

slide 10: Lake Park

Always artistic, these Lancettes are owning the floor in this moment from the November 17th Fremd comp.

slide 11: St. Charles North

Every year for homecoming week, the SCN dancers get to paint a window of a downtown business. The weather was gorgeous back on October 11th. I’ll always remember the JV girls trying to get trucks and buses to honk as they drove by on busy Main Street (Route 64).

slide 12: Pattonville

This team is no stranger to Missouri’s state competition every February. I got the chance to see them perform a home routine at UDA camp in St. Louis back on July 12. The gym, on the campus of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, was amazing!

slide 13: Staunton

This small school, a little too far northeast of the STL area to be called a suburb, doesn’t do IHSA dance but rocks the IDTA circuit. This moment in their pom-dance routine is from the Highland competition on February 2nd.

slide 14: Andrew

It’s always cool to check back at the beginning of good seasons. Before dominating the comp season, Andrew already looked formidable back at the UDA camp at NIU on June 14th.

slide 15: Neuqua Valley

The NV dancers are so talented, and it’s not a surprise that they tend to gravitate toward complex, pretty combos, like this one from the Naperville North comp (12/2).
