IDTA State routines:Ā A Pom, A Jazz
Coach: Nicole Leigh
Conference: River Valley
Where in IL:Ā 26 miles south of Minooka, or 18 miles southeast of Morris
Season tidbits: 2nd at IHSA sectionals; 24th on Day 1. Hosted an IDTA/IHSA comp on December 7. First qualified their pom routine at Seneca on 12/15; first qualified their jazz at Charleston on 1/11.
Extra notes: The school doesn’t have a football program, so their main halftime season is in the winter for basketball! They also function as the school’s cheerleaders and have to switch back and forth between cheer and dance (yup–shoes, skills, and mindsets) in the middle of a game!
(thanks to the seniors for their answers!)
(Answered by the seniors): Every big performance is a rush of excitement. There is always pressure to perform your best and having the huge crowds at these big competitions really hypes the girls up to perform. We had almost 100 kids take the fan bus to the IHSA state competition this year! We love the support of our school and community! There is also a huge sense of pride knowing that our small school of 200 kids made it as far as we did in the state series. We feel honored to perform against the best teams in the state of Illinois!
Leaps, spinning discs, and calypsos.
(Answered by the seniors): Facials, sass, energy, pointed toes, sharp arms, determination.
We focus most of our time on pom but my seniors love jazz!
The girls love hip hop and lyrical! I love pom though!
