What’s it like to perform at such a high level in both IDTA and IHSA?
It is an honor to perform with all the other incredible dance teams – and it is very nerve-wracking to try to live up to our expectations. It is challenging to switch between category vs. all genres – but that makes us work even harder!
Was there a point in the fall or early season when you realized you were going to have a great winter?
No – we qualified at Dunlap (December 14) for both of routines for the first time, but our scores were varied so we didn’t really know how we would do overall. Plus we only practice a few times in the summer and the fall…we do other sports (football, cheer, and cross country).
Any team skills you guys are really good at?
We can jump – I have great jumpers on our team! Our competitive team is all juniors/seniors so they have improved overall in all skills! (None are trained dancers)
Fave dance style to perform?
POM!
Fave dance style to watch?
Girls love Hip hop and lyrical – depends on the routine, really! Coach loves Pom – imagine that?? 😎
Other teams you’re fans of?
Centralia, Morris, Joliet Catholic. Love cheering on our friends, Eureka and Clinton.
Top 3 memories from the season so far?
IHSA sectionals, state and of course the finals announcement (to get to Day 2) – still can’t believe!
