All-State Dance Team 2024: Riley Smola

Riley Smola

PLAINFIELD EAST BENGALETTES DANCE TEAM (junior)

1ST TIME ON THE 8CA ALL-STATE DANCE TEAM

I have been dancing for 14 years

Getting to go to state with my team after all the hard work we put in this season.

I absolutely love to go and support my teammates whenever I can, whether on poms or at studio; I will always be in the wings to support them.

I would like to shout out my 3 wonderful coaches who have helped me tremendously through high school and I genuinely have no idea what I would be doing if I didn’t have them. Coach Petrella was my introduction to dance team and she showed me what being on a team was like. Coach Riv who is always there for me and the rest of the team with anything. Coach Jay who has been one of the best coaches I have had in my life. She is constantly pushing us and supporting us throughout everything we do. And I would like to shoutout my teammates Erica and Madlyn who have been with me all 3 years and are the best teammates I could ask for.

I love to preform lyrical and pointe/ballet. And I love to watch emotional contemporaries!

I love to hang out with my friends and my cousins

This was Riley’s first year on varsity and what a successful first year it has been for her. Being able to witness her technical growth has been rewarding. Riley is a hard worker and has proven to be consistent in showing up for herself and her teammates. Though a little more on the soft spoken side, Riley has been a supportive teammate and provides comfort and encouragement for those around her. She is a great asset to the team. She is jokingly, but affectionately, known as the “ballerina” and I think that truly stood out this competitive season. She has been a pleasure to have on the team and I can’t wait to see what kind of memories and experiences senior year has for her!
