MARION DANCE TEAM (junior)

1ST TIME ON THE 8CA ALL-STATE DANCE TEAM

I have been dancing for 14 years.

My favorite memory from summer was attending UDA camp with my team and growing closer together. A few of my highlights from the fall include serving as a Lettergirl and getting to perform in front of my town at football games, as well as making many community appearances. I was also honored to be name the “IDTA Start the Beat Junior Lyrical Winner.” During competition season, my team collectively had many successful experiences together! We were named the IHSA Sectional Champions, placed very high on the state level with IDTA and IHSA, and we even got to compete with UDA at the national level in Orlando, FL and of course visit Walt Disney World, in which we made unforgettable memories together!

Something you should know about me is that I am a very hardworker and I would not be successful in dance without the support of my family encouraging me to put my full efforts into this sport. My teammates and I enjoy having fun, laughing, and making memories. My team as well is built on tradition, support from our small and sweet hometown, and we strive to carry on the legacy of success that has been embedded in our program over the past five decades.

I would like to give a shoutout to my teammate London McGuire. We have competed duets together, supported one another, and raised the standard of excellence for each other. I would also like to thank my parents and family for being my #1 fans, spending time and money to get me to this point, and for always guiding me with wisdom and grace. Lastly, I would like to thank Mrs. Laura Sanders for giving me countless oppurtunities and always believing in me, Mrs. Amanda Lynn for coaching my technique and never settling for anything less than perfection, and Mrs. Lauryn McGuire for being my amazing choreographer and someone I can look up to.

I love to perform lyrical because I enjoy the fluid and soft movments that emphasize proper technique. However, my favorite routine to watch is a hard hitting jazz, because I love to watch the attitude and performance quality that makes this style so entertaining.

When I’m not dancing I enjoy competing in pageants, going to concerts with my friends, drinking iced coffees, and going on shopping trips!

McKenna is a beautiful dancer whose technical skills truly enhance our competitive routines. Her turns are second to none, and she truly embodies what our program is all about.
