RICH TOWNSHIP POMS DANCE TEAM (senior)

1ST TIME ON THE 8CA ALL-STATE DANCE TEAM

Throughout my entire childhood, around 11 years. Although I began consistently in highschool though.

100% senior night, as I was able to use my unique dance abilities to choreograph the routine from top to bottom. I was so ecstatic about teaching my teammates, and being able to show my product to the school. It took a lot of hard work and showed me that dance is truly an art. I was extremely proud of myself.

When it comes to dance, I’m free. I always feel enthusiastic about learning new skills, even if I don’t get them right away. When I step on that floor, my alter ego enters. I officially become BeBe. With every move I do my best to perform, not just dance. As for my teammates, we are like a real family, not just girls that dance together. We laugh, share news, and express ourselves the best way we know how through our bodies.

HUGE SHOUTOUT to my wonderful coaches. Coach Lusby, you have been so uplifting, inspiring, and encouraging since day 1. You’ve shown me nothing short of love and positivity. Throughout these years I’ve been under your elite guidance, I have grown so much as a person and as a dancer. So for that I couldn’t be more thankful for you. To Coach K, thank you for your humor, all the fun you bring all while still checking us in between. I appreciate all your efforts to challenge me and the team as a whole to be the best team we can be. Making us always look and feel in your words “DELICIOUS!!” To my twin Coach Scott, thank you for always entertaining my goofiness and always being like a big sister figure. Even outside of dance, you’ve been the most helpful person and such a great guidance in helping prepare me for my all my future endeavors. It is truly commendable. Last but certainly not least giving the biggest shoutout to my moach. The best example I could ever ask for, always their to support as well as encourage. Not allowing me to feel down after a loss, or as if we aren’t doing enough, keeping my spirits high, and being there for me every step of the way. It truly makes everything worth my while. I couldn’t deliver this message without honoring my wonderful teammates, I love each and every one of my girls. It has been an honor being the captain for such great people. We’re like a sisterhood, we support one another and for that I will always be grateful to have graced the floor with them.

I love performing Pom/Hip Hop. With every count I get a dose of energy. It’s like I can feel the beats in my body. Although I really enjoying watch Hip/Hop, lyrical is always so elegant and peaceful to watch.

One of my other favorite hobbies in the world is singing. I’ve been in many show choirs & absolutely adore music and its entirety. I’ve been singing since I was a child; in a sense I feel like singing and dancing have a lot in common. They both allow people to express themselves in a skilled art form. Both uplift people and create a community to come together. That’s what I love most about singing. I also really enjoy writing music, journaling, painting, and doing all type of crazy DIYs.

Nia is an amazing dancer. The grace and elegance that she displays on the dance floor is mirrored throughout her daily interactions and relationships. Nia served as our team’s captain this year. She was fair and equitable within her role.
