1ST TIME ON THE 8CA ALL-STATE DANCE TEAM
I have been dancing for 3 years overall
I would consider my best dance memory being my first competition.
Something you should know about me as a dancer is that I am a disciplined dancer, as for my teammates they all have personality and their own styles when dancing, and as a team I feel like we are very open and do our best to perform for our school to push for our exposure.
I would want to give a shout out to my sister who started my love for dance. She was the reason that I began dancing and she pushed me to get out of my comfort zone while dancing. She is an amazing dancer herself and she is a great coach and most of my growth as a dancer and as a person is due to her support. I would want to give a shout out to my team as a whole because they are all amazing; I am so proud of my teammates’ growth especially those who just started. They all have so much potential and I can’t wait to see how they improve. And to my other coach, Ms Moreno, for pushing me to do things even when I am uncomfortable.
I like to perform hip-hop and footwork, but I enjoy watching all types of dance
When I’m not dancing I enjoy playing volleyball, baking, and hanging out with family and friends
As a teacher and a coach, I am a strong believer that all children have the potential to do amazing things. However, for this award, I nominate the captain of the Little Village Lawndale High School varsity dance team, Isabella Paola Salgado. Isabella is a very well-rounded young lady. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her this year and witnessing her great work ethic. Isabella does not only maintain a 4.0 GPA but she is also taking college courses. Not only that but in this year alone she has shown me that she truly is one of the best athletes our campus has. I have seen her become captain of the volleyball team, the wrestling team, and the dance team. Without a doubt I truly believe she is the epitome of a Phoenix (our mascot) because no matter what, she continues to transform and rise. It is in my humble opinion to nominate such an amazing athlete like Isabella Paola Salgado for this award.
